How to clean your makeup brushes?

Cleaning makeup brushes is one of those oddly pleasurable tasks that I look forward to. I love it even more since the Beauty Blender Blendercleanser Solid I use removes ALL product from my brushes while leaving them beautifully soft and clean-smelling. I purchased this little beauty from the Beauty Blender website since it works with both my sponges and my brushes.

This tiny Solid is fantastic because it also includes a silicone scrubbing pad, which makes cleaning 10 times simpler. The Luxie brush set from April’s BoxyCharm box has been a staple for me because each one fits perfectly into my daily regimen! To set my concealer with powder beneath my eyes, I use the Luxie 512 Small Contouring brush.

Luxie 245 Small Shader was used to tidy up my brows after I filled them in, and Luxie 209 Large Shader was used to highlight my brow bone, nose, and cupid’s bow. Needless to say, they were in desperate need of a thorough scrubbing.

How frequently should you wash your makeup brushes?

To minimise product accumulation, most dermatologists recommend soaking your equipment, particularly foundation and concealer brushes, at least once a week. While using those same brushes on your skin, the clean they are, the better, as per celebrity makeup artist Bobbi Brown. She is, however, a touch more generous with her eye makeup and liner brushes. “Bruises all around eyelids should be cleaned at least 1 to 2,in a month” she recommends.

Moisturizing your skin on a routine basis does something more than keep it clean. As per beauty experts, soaking your makeup brushes on a regular basis may extend the life of the bristles and result in better product application.

How should makeup brushes be cleaned?

To avoid loosening the adhesive within the brush, wet it with lukewarm water.

Brush your brush into the cleaning solid or your preferred brush cleaner. You may use dish soap, vinegar, baby shampoo, or even olive oil, but I believe this Blendercleanser truly cleans your brushes. then rinse the solid as it becomes soiled. Now comes the fun part: grab the silicone pad and twirl the brush! Continue rinsing the brush and rotating it until no more substance comes off the brush and onto the pad.

Squeeze off all of the extra water from the brush! This is necessary not only to assist your brush dry faster, but also to avoid developing a bacteria-friendly environment within your brushes.

Brush bristles should be reshaped to their natural shape and laid flat to dry on a paper towel. These Luxie brushes are strong, so they will hold their form easily, but it is always a good idea to give them a little touch up.

You may now enjoy new, clean brushes. My second favourite feature of cleaning my brushes is that I can change what I generally use the brush for if I want to. What about brush-cleaning equipment?

Although the method described above is adequate, some specialists prefer to use accessories to achieve the most complete cleaning possible. The Sephora Collection Vera Mona Color Switch Brush Cleaner has a sponge that looks like a stipple sponge, but it cleans cosmetic brushes without using soap or water. Gently rotate your brush all around sponges to clear any powdered makeup residue, and your brushes were fresh. According to beauty expert Randy Schueller, the key is the sponge’s gritty, porous nature.

“The contact in between bristles as well as the sponge provides the item’s cleaning action,” he explains. That’s all there is to it; there are no special ingredients or secrets. (However, to prevent bacteria growth, Schueller recommends washing it on a frequent basis.)

Another tool that works well for removing both powder and fluid makeup from brushes is the Sigma Spa 2X Brush Cleaning Glove, that has 2 aspects (one for eye brush and another for facial brushes), eight unique textures, and a “double thumb function.”Using the glove to wash your makeup brushes instead of your bare hands, according to the manufacturer, will result in a faster, more effective thorough clean.Top of Form

How frequently should makeup sponges be replaced?

Regular cosmetic sponges (the cheap sort that arrive in a bulk bag) aren’t designed to be reused; throw them away after one usage. Microbial-resistant sponges, such as Beautyblenders, are designed to be reused and may be safely used for three to four months. According to Ava Shamban, a board-certified dermatologist in Beverly Hills, you should clean your BeautyBlenders at least once a week, because the sponges can become clogged with skin cells and germs can proliferate.

When is it OK to discard a cosmetic brush?

Although periodic cleaning can assist to extend the life of your brushes, there are several warning indications that they are no longer up to the task. “It’s time to throw away your cosmetics brush when the bristles fray, shed, or lose their form,” Brown adds. “I can’t emphasise enough how crucial the appropriate tools are in achieving the desired appearance as the makeup itself. If your brushes become squeezed or squished, they will simply not do the job.”
