The producers of many horror movies claim to be based on true stories. How much the claims are real, we can’t say. We have to believe other people who have experienced scary events in their lives. But to think and feel that the movie they are watching is based on a true event, is the scariest part. During and even after watching such movies we are continuously in suspicion of something or someone hidden near us. The third sequel of the movie Conjuring was released on Friday, 4th June is also said to be based on true events, as other franchises of the series.   • The Amityville Horror (2005) The Amityville Horror, an American movie released in 2005 is directed by Andrew Douglas. The movie is based on a novel by the same name written by Jay Anson. The story is claimed to be based on true events experienced by the Lutz family when they had shifted to a new house in Long Island. This was the same house where one person named Ronald DeFeo Jr had murdered six members of his own family said to have done so because of the effect of some possession. The movie revolves around the spine-chilling experiences of the Lutz family staying in the house. The plot of the movie is woven around the frightening events occurring to the family and how they get rid of the scary situation finally leaving the house.
  • The Exorcist (1973) The Exorcist is an American movie released in 1973 based on a novel with the same name written by William Peter Blatty in 1971. This movie is the first franchise of the Exorcist series. The movie is about a young girl Regan who suddenly starts to do some strange things which are predicted by some priests to be due to devil possession. The film revolves around the frightening events the girl has to face and the process of exorcism done on her to get rid of the demonic possession.
  • The Conjuring (2013) Based on the experiences shared by Ed Warren and Lorraine Warren, a couple practicing paranormal investigations, The Conjuring is the first movie of the series released in 2013. This movie is an American supernatural horror story based on a haunting experience that the Warren couple had narrated. The story is about the Perron family when they shifted to their farmhouse in Rhode Island. After having faced so many thrilling events, the family decided to contact the Warren couple for investigation. The movie picturizes the events that happened both before and after Ed and Lorraine Warren visit their house. This is one of the most spine-chilling movies of the cinema world.
  • Annabelle (2014) An American horror movie, Annabelle is the first movie of the series. The movie Annabelle is directed by John R Leonetti was released in 2014. This movie is also inspired by some true events about a doll named Annabelle as narrated by the Warren couple. The story revolves around a doll that was gifted to a nurse on her birthday by her mother. The doll began to change her place by herself and the nurse started to get some notes with messages written on them. The Warrens were asked for the investigation and were told by the nurse that the doll has been showing tears of blood. The doll is still present in the Warrens museum.
  • The Haunting in Connecticut (2009)    This is an American supernatural horror movie released in 2009 and directed by Peter Cornwell. This movie is allegedly based on a true event experienced by the Snedeker family when they move to a new house and the supernatural happenings start to follow them. The house in which the family moved was later on found to be a funeral house earlier. After some time the family had called exorcists and the Warrens also to perform the rituals for getting the supernatural things to settle down.
